Skyggen - Rehearsal
Created for Prosess.Dans 2023 (a dance film production for the Norwegian National Ballet).
Taking inspiration from Hans Christian Andersen's tale 'The Shadow', and the impostor phenomenon, the work adapts these concepts into a choreographic and film context. The work uses one dancer, focusing on their character and that of their shadow, cast upon a vertical screen and a white floor panel. Various lighting angles and camera positions/movements are used to create different relationships between the dancer and shadow, shifting the power dynamics between them. The choreographic material follows and reflects the structure and mood of the music, as well as its rhythm and phrasing.
